you can customize the feel with different solder-free swappable switch types, or the look and keycap heights with different swappable keycap sets, they feel nice to type on, modern ones have 3 way wired, 2.4ghz wireless and bluetooth built in, LED rainbow puke lighting and programmable keybinds, and modifier layers if you type a lot it's not out of the question to spend $100 on a nice keyboard, the whole category is overwhelming because you're spoiled for choice in 2025, you should try out the switches before committing to anything, I used to hate them but then I realized i only hate clicky switches.
There's really only 3 type, clicky, which make a click sound and give you a feedback feeling that the key registered halfway down the keystroke, tactiles also give you feedback but don't make the annoying clicky noise, linears don't give you the feedback at all, they just go straight down and they're the best for gaming or if you just bottom out all your keys at all time like me.
If you're on the fence or you hate modernity, just get an old school mechanical keyboard design without any of the modern frills like hotswap, programability, LED puke or even a detachable cable, filco is an old japanese brand from before the redditification of mechanical keyboards and they're sturdy and feel substantial enough that it won't move around on your desk, they're extremely reliable if a bit old fashioned, soldered switches never fail unlike hotswaps.
This one is $45 right now because it's in an unpopular dolch colorway
