Just go camping and fishing for a week to detox from society. You don't need to become a forest hermit or abandon your home.

i actually saw people like this. they were trying to find time away from it all, but even then, the campsites were filled with tourists and that commute to the countryside always ends up as a lengthy as a litany, then you have the bluetooth speakers and drunk kids that keep you up at night. the litter, the airplanes overhead, the highway rumbling in the distance, it all just reminds you that you never actually left your neighborhood. you try to get away, only to be faced with more things to be upset about, as you fumble through the special pricy gadgets you thought you absolutely needed for the trip because that reservation you had to make for the campsite made you wait in anxious excitement, thinking you'd finally get away.

there's definite value in reconnecting with nature, but in the face of the constant flow of status quo, it feels like there is little peace of mind to be found anymore. idk, maybe i'm wrong, but it's how i felt when considering these things.

I went camping and foraging for food in the woods a few times. Turns out most wild edible plants just taste like plain spinach and all taste kinda bitter so I didn't bother with them too much. Wild edible mushrooms taste really good when cooked and some even taste like chicken when cooked. If you go camping then just forage for wild mushrooms and do some fishing and you'll have a good time. Just remember to bring some salt, spices, bottled water and instant coffee. Some oatmeal or grits for an easy breakfast helps too. It's fun but not something I'd do for an extended period of time.

sounds comfy, i'm glad you had fun, anon, and thanks for the foraging tip. the great memories we make while camping make it all worth it.

I live in Seattle and it's a shithole, Canada is even worse. Should I break into someone's home and squat?

humu humu...
what neighborhood? i live in Everett, just north of you. same shithole, tbh

personally, the cabin innawoods dream is over for me. at this point, i'd rather go live in Yemen, and drive trucks delivering humanitarian aid, than spend another day here in this soul sucking circus.

I live near Chinatown in Seattle, it feels so demoralizing to live here. Everybody is retarded and has 95- iq. I don't want to leave North America, things are getting interesting.
